For our final practical assignment, we decided to make a cooking tutorial. Since none of us has a great experience/ability in cooking, it was a little bit of a hard decision making for us to pick the dish. Finally we chose a signature Italian dish, pasta. We decided to make a tutorial on making Spaghetti Aglio Olio because it is unique and different, comparing to the typical bolognese or carbonara. So here it is, hope you enjoy it!

Korean food
Korean food are mostly based on rice, vegetables and meats. The traditional meal in Korea are several dishes that accompany steam-cooked short-gain rice. Kimchi is a very common meal in Korea, sometime at every day meal which contains sesame oil, soy sauce, salt, pepper flakes and red chili paste. Beef is the the most common meat in their country, it can be boiling in soups which is very delicious. (Michelle)
Indonesian Special - Tumpeng
I am Indonesian, and to pick one particular dish from my country isn't easy because honestly speaking, we have lots of good food! But there's this one celebration menu that really stands out from the others and also represents the others at the same time. Moreover, I made this once with my high school friends for our class teacher's birthday so I think I can share a little bit of the excitement! It's called "Tumpeng". The special thing about it is that the rice is moulded into a cone shape like a mountain. It is placed in the middle of tampah (a round container made of woven bamboo) that is already covered by banana leaves. The rice usually used is yellow rice (cook with coconut milk and colored with turmeric), but we used plain white rice.
And then surrounding it are assorted Indonesian traditional side dishes. My friends and I split the side dishes so there are at least 2 people bringing each one of them, and we made a really good team! The side dishes that we made are peanuts with white bait fishes, telor balado (fried eggs with chili sauce), fried noodle, potato fritters, fried tofu, sweet and dry tempeh, Indonesian fried chicken (cooked with coconut milk instead of flour), shredded omelette, cucumber, and last but most important, sambal terasi. This dish is perfect for any traditional celebrations. And it was perfect for my teacher's birthday surprise! (Andriana)

German Favourites
source: www.groupon.com.au
All German favorites on a plate! - Sauerkraut, sausages, and mash potatoes. I assume we all know about the typical German cuisine sausage and mash potato, how they taste like and perhaps we even know the restaurants that sell the best of them. So in this post I will focus more on the Sauerkraut, or "sour cabbage" in English. It is not as well world known as the other foods on the plate, yet just as popular in Germany. As its name, the main hero in this dish is cabbage. But unlike coleslaw or any other cabbage dishes, Sauerkraut is made of strongly fermented cabbages which make it has a unique sour flavor. I never really tried this because yes, I hate sour and I'm more than sure I couldn't stand that "unique" sourness. But hey if you do like sour, out of curiosity, one go never hurts. (Andriana)
Thailand Food
Thailand do not have very special breakfast dishes. A Thai breakfast is consisting of the same food as lunch or dinner. For example, noodle soup, steamed rice with some omelette, fried pork and chicken. These are mostly common sold in Thailand. ‘Khao tom' is a Thai style rice soup with pork, fresh chicken and shrimp. Chinese Dumplings
Chinese Dumpling is a normal traditional food in China, which is an important food during some special days in Northern China. It is a very popular food in China. In Chinese New Year, it is an important food. It is because the shape of Chinese dumplings is the same as the ancient Chinese gold or silver ingots, they symbolize wealth. During holidays, people get together to make dumplings. Sometimes, they will put a coin in one of the dumplings. If someone find this coin which means he will have a good luck in the new year. (by Michelle)

Italian Goes Green!
Spaghetti spinach pesto - Kichenette
Pasta has always been one of my favorite Italian dishes, especially spaghetti. But my regular order for spaghetti was bolognese (I don't really recall why, remembering tomato sauce has never been my best interest) and one time I got bored so I ordered the spinach pesto instead, considering it might be healthier though it wouldn't be as good. But that very moment I proved myself wrong, it tasted just as amazing as bolognese (even better I guess, since it has nothing to do with tomato sauces), and it's healthier! well, I suppose. I agree that spinach makes a good veggie combination for any pasta dishes without outweighing the delicious original taste of pasta. So yeah, I will definitely recommend you this healthy green pesto pasta! Especially to those who don't really like tomatoes like me. (Andriana)
Mediterranean Kebabs
Kebab is my favorite (or at least the only) Mediterranean food I can think of in instant. It is traditionally lamb meat cut into chunks, marinated and cooked on a skewer. But nowadays, it can be replaced with any meats preferable, such as chicken, pork, beef, goat, and even fish. Capsicums, garlic or onions are usually skewered between the meat to add more color and spices to the dish.
Kebabs are cooked by grilling it, and that makes it a perfect meal for BBQ parties. I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant ordering mediterranean kebabs, but I made it once or twice with my aunt for a gathering. She's a good cook so our kebabs taste really nice. I really like this food which has been adapted to other countries too and become international. It is also so efficient to make it yourself, simple preparation and cooking, and yet a delicious and perfect dish to serve to your guests. You have to be careful though, to cook kebabs are not as easy as it looks, since you have to cook it for a good amount of time. If not, the meat is gonna be chewy and not so amazing as it should have been. (Andriana)

Waffle, Belgium (Max Brenner - Wynyard)
The waffle in Max Brenner is so incredible.
The taste of the waffle is so delicious. While eating a waffle poured with a
chocolate, we can feel the interior is so warm and cosy. It is a great place to
enjoy the waffle and meet up with some friends. The hot chocolate with
chocolate ball is also delicious. Drink a hot chocolate and eat a incredible
waffle in a raining day is just perfect. It is not far from the Wynyard train
station, we can go there by walking for just 5 minutes. ( Ezra )
Canai Bread – Indian Food
I never taste Indian food before because I
am not interested with the appearance but my friend ask me to try and we went
to Indian restaurant in the Broadway. I asked the familiar for Indian food and
my friend told that I have to try the Canai bread. I ordered and the waitress
brings us our food. The bread is so unique it is like plain dough of flour and
there is a curry in a separate bowl. I tried to eat the curry and the Canai
bread and I did not expect the taste it is not like what I think. It is nice and
delicious. (Ezra)

Spanish Food
Tortilla espaƱola - Gambas al ajillo - Croquetas de jamon
Paella Valenciana
Spanish Tapas - I went to this restaurant last year with my family on their visit here. Their signature dish is Paella Valenciana, a unique Spanish dish which contains rice, chicken and seafood. It is similar to fried rice except that it is made with tomato sauce and lemon juice. Honestly speaking, I literally hate sour. Thus I didn't really like this dish because I don't like the strong sour taste of tomato and lemon. But everyone else seem to be happy with our main course so I assume if you like sour, you'll love this Spanish fried rice.
Tortilla espaƱola is potato and onion omelete. This looks like a macaroni schotel, only tastes better and yet it is vegetarian! The middle one is Gambas al ajilo, which is garlic prawn and was my favourite dish of the night (because I love prawns). The last one is ham croquettes. It was alright but there's nothing so special about it that I would recommend you to try this. But I would strongly recommend you to try the Paella and the garlic prawns!
